Completed in 1891, the Old Courthouse is an historical treasure, considered one of the most ornate and finely articulated courthouses in the Midwest. A space often recalled by local residents from their many receptions, weddings and political fundraisers, is Wedgwood Hall.
VPS Architecture, in association with RATIO Architects, conducted a comprehensive renovation of Wedgwood Hall in compliance with the Courthouse Master Plan completed by the team in April of 2007. The Wedgwood Renovation program involved restoration of plaster, paint, marble, and hardwood, along with the installation of a modern catering kitchen.
Historic research was conducted by removing paint layers to discover the original colors applied in the building’s early years. Past furnishings and appointments in the Wedgwood space were determined by utilizing archival photography. Wedgwood Hall has become one of the most sought after assembly spaces in Vanderburgh County.
