About Us
VPS Architecture is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) design firm headquartered in Evansville, Indiana, and has been around since 1960. We are dedicated to Exceptional Execution in Design. Our team strives to serve the unique needs of each individual client with a collaborative approach to experiences and emotional connections to place. The core values that guide us daily are: Grit, Inspire, Respect, and Collaboration.
OUR APPROACH
We offer our clients a hands-on approach to creating environments that balance design goals with budget and time parameters. Our process addresses building design holistically, where all aspects are harmoniously executed: the site and landscape, exterior and interior architecture, furniture selection and high-performance building systems. VPS Architecture strives to always listen to and engage with our clients to interpret their visions into extraordinary experiences that connect.
Value-Added Design Solutions
VPS Architecture offers value-added design solutions that improve our clients’ environments. We add value for our clients by advocating for evidence-based designs that improve the human experience. Utilizing current research and insights, we always seek to create environments that will enhance and strengthen our clients’ bottom lines.
We apply a collaborative method to discover better ways to deliver our design services. Our team of experts actively engages clients in the research process as we review relevant literature, test hypotheses, and offer a wide range of evidence-based solutions. Whether a client wishes to implement findings from prior studies or develop original research that might just change the industry, VPS is ready to execute.
Our Core Pillars
EVOLVED | COMMITTED
Since 2010, much has changed for VPS Architecture. Our approach to building design teams with outside consultants has evolved. We began broadening our partnerships with more industry leaders who bring a wide variety of expertise, including specialized knowledge in niche markets. This allows us to tailor our consultant teams to the specific needs of each project.
We have also adjusted our approach to project management. A detailed analysis of the goals and complexity of the project is the foundation of our process. Once the goals and complexities are understood, design timelines and estimates of construction costs are carefully developed. Our goal is to align expectations with realistic outcomes to ensure overall project success.
The design and coordination processes have evolved through more efficient use of technology, which includes virtual meetings and Building Information Management (BIM). With the use of BIM processes, building systems are integrated within the architecture and structure of the building, which results in greater quality control of the design process.
OUR HISTORY
INVESTING IN URBAN REVITALIZATION
Recycling a building is a significant and far-reaching environmental action. That’s exactly what VPS Architecture did in 1994 when we moved to the restored Indiana Bank and Trust Building at Sixth and Main Streets in Downtown Evansville, Indiana. We took an environmental and historical approach to the million-dollar-plus revitalization of the 528 Main Street headquarters, using recycled materials and energy-saving systems.
BUILDING THE PAST AND FUTURE
Since our beginning in 1960 as Heironimus, Knapp & Givens Associates, VPS Architecture has become a firm of proven design excellence, superior service, and environmental leadership.
Clients such as Indiana University, Purdue University, Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library, the State of Indiana and the City of Evansville have come to rely on our high-performance design.
Our active partners, Sarah Schuler and George Link are leaders in educational, cultural, corporate, civic, and healthcare architecture throughout Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois.
