In an effort to maximize the fan experience at football and track events, VPS Architecture worked with Richland-Bean Blossom School Corporation to rethink circulation and programmatic spaces within Edgewood High School’s football stadium. The entire football field, along with field event areas for track, were replaced with new, synthetic turf and runways. The new turf’s vibrant color combination became the cornerstone of the project and provided an additional level of safety for the players. The project also consisted of upgrades to the existing restroom facilities to offer a more user-friendly and ADA compliant experience, as well as new ADA-accessible fan bleachers for the football and baseball fields. A new concession area was added with efficient storage and a covered area providing seating out of the elements. Additionally, a new press box at the top of bleachers was integrated, giving field and radio broadcast announcers upgraded technology, expanded workspace, and a great view of the field to facilitate a more efficient and accurate call of events.
