VPS was selected to design the USI Student Art Gallery, an important addition to the Liberal Arts building’s west-facing facade. The designers at VPS worked closely with faculty, administrators and artists to achieve a stunning yet functional solution.

Using a palette of materials that originated with the Liberal Arts building, VPS captured the essence of the Art Program at USI and offered a significant new venue for students’ artistic expression and achievement. Using a series of linked presentation spaces, the gallery offers unlimited options for displaying students’ work.

The gallery architecture, a unique artistic expression itself, has become a perfect partner for original student artwork at the university. The building is complementary to the students’ presentations, but never upstages them. Surfaces inside the gallery are easily managed by volunteers and student assistants, making show changes simple and easy.
