A LIVING LEARNING CENTER RENOVATION

VPS Architecture transformed an office suite in Teter Quad into an innovative makerspace and living space for IU Luddy LLC. The design encompasses 2,500 square feet of creative lab spaces providing creativity and flexibility for students to collaborate with their peers. An additional 10,000 square feet received various levels of renovation ranging from new paint and finishes to a new active learning classroom and conference room.

The new makerspace provides 3D laser printers, large format printers, soldering stations equipped with snorkel exhausts mounted overhead, and adjacent computer and work stations for the students. The design incorporated dry erase “white/write space” to evoke creativity and team collaboration. The renovation also included an upgrade to the existing MEP systems, a replacement of an AHU, and features a state-of-the-art active learning atmosphere that is bright, innovative, and modern.
