Renovation

The expansion of the Medical Laboratory Sciences degree program at the Stone Family Center for Health Sciences required the renovation of several existing laboratory spaces. One third of the existing gross anatomy lab was transformed into the main pathology lab. The transformation of this space resulted in a cost effective solution due to the availability of existing systems infrastructure.

The result of the main pathology lab is a dynamic teaching space for 24 students. Center lab benches have unobstructed views to ceiling mounted screens. Lab sinks, lab casework, and specialty equipment are located at the perimeter of the room. Mobile lab tables with ceiling mounted cord reels provide additional flexible lab space. In addition to the pathology lab, a classroom and a microscope lab were renovated for teaching purposes. The microscope lab features a specialty designed, nine-head teaching microscope mounted on a center table. A wall-mounted, high-resolution screen is located on one wall for more group discussion and teaching flexibility. Four faculty offices were also renovated as a part of this project.
