TRANSFORMING THE RIVERFRONT INTO A COMMUNITY ASSET

When VPS Architecture was selected by Mayor Frank McDonald to design a refurbished downtown riverfront, the existing Dress Plaza had become a dangerous place, with broken paving, weeds in the rip-rap stone and trash strewn everywhere.

The architects and planners at VPS enlisted a team of landscape architect consultants from Storrow-Kinsella Associates of Indianapolis, and civil engineers from Bernardin-Lochmueller Associates of Evansville, to help them transform the riverfront into a community asset that can be enjoyed by visitors and local residents of all ages.

Complete with a double boat launch, the riverfront at the bend of the Ohio River and the foot of Main Street is a landmark recreational site for the people in Evansville.
