The industry has been demanding high accuracy models and streamlined information processes. As a BIM manager, it is my job to make sure that our firm is up to industry standards and expectations.
BIM, or Building Information Modeling, is a series of processes through which we manage the modeling, rendering, estimating, and authorizing of architectural design. This is accomplished through the support of various tools, technology, and systematic standards.
BIM gives project stakeholders the ability to see all of the information produced throughout the project and helps to smoothly transition data throughout different stages of construction, from pre-construction all the way to facility management.
Some of my daily tasks include managing the pre-existing Revit library and establishing standards for modeling and documentation processes. I’m also responsible for communicating with other BIM managers and representatives from clients and engineers as well as keeping informed on the most recent innovations in the construction tech industry. I provide training to our team members to discuss our internal standards and any recent industry updates to keep everyone in the know.
