Established in 1960, VPS Architecture is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) design firm with offices in Indianapolis and Evansville, Indiana. Our team serves the unique needs of each individual client with a collaborative approach to experiences and emotional connections to place. VPS practices all phases of architectural design, including concept, construction documentation and project administration. We do not limit ourselves to the design of the building only but encompass the language of the site and location, the culture and aesthetic of the user and the impact of the building on future development.
Summary:
We’re seeking a senior-level Project Architect with 10 or more years of experience who understands how buildings come together from design intent through construction.
The primary role of this position is to provide technical expertise and support to the project delivery team, with a focus on detailing, construction documentation, code compliance, and overall constructability. This role is rooted in developing high-quality technical documents and applying building systems knowledge to ensure design intent is executed with precision and performance.
This position is for someone who is technically grounded, detail-driven, and able to think holistically about how architecture functions as a complete system. You are comfortable coordinating complex building elements, resolving technical challenges, and translating design concepts into clear, well-executed construction documents. You also enjoy being a resource to others, mentoring and helping strengthen technical skills across the studio.
You bring:
- 10 or more years of professional architectural experience.
- Strong technical expertise in building systems, detailing, and constructability.
- Extensive experience producing and coordinating construction documentation.
- Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- A hands-on, problem-solving mindset and the ability to lead the production side of project delivery through quality assurance reviews and consultant coordination.

Main Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of detailed construction documents across a
range of project types - Resolve complex technical and detailing challenges with precision
- Coordinate across disciplines to ensure seamless integration of systems
and constructability - Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure compliance with local, state, and national building codes
- Support QA/QC processes and mentor younger staff in best practices
- Participate in construction administration, submittal review, and field support
- Work in Revit and CAD environments to efficiently manage and deliver document sets
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed Architect or equivalent experience
- 10+ years in a technical architecture role
- Mastery of detailing, codes, and building envelope systems
- Revit and CAD experience preferred
- Strong understanding of MEP/structural coordination and constructability
- Calm under pressure, clear communicator, and quality-obsessed
- Someone who takes pride in execution, not just ideas
